Skipper talks up Cook influence
Bournemouth skipper Simon Francis says he and Lewis Cook are spurring each other on as the pair continue to work their way back to fitness.
After both ruptured the anterior cruciate ligaments in their right knees back December, the pair having been working together in their rehabilitation and the hope is they will be ready for the start of the Premier League season.
Francis has admitted it has helped to have midfielder Cook alongside him and the pair have been working hard off the field to get themselves ready for the new campaign with the Cherries.
‘I see Lewis Cook flying day in, day out and he is looking really good and fit,’ Francis told The Echo.
‘That is my inspiration and motivation to get back fit as well because I almost don’t want to let him down.
‘On the reversal, I know he has been looking at me and thinking ‘Franno has been leading by example’.
‘We are definitely spurring each other on.
It’s had a real influence on both of our rehabs, we have almost been together every single day apart from in the summer when we have been away.
‘It’s tough of course but having someone working alongside you on the same path makes it that little bit easier and is the motivation we need.’
