Defour tied down until 2020
Burnley have confirmed midfielder Steven Defour signed a one-year contract extension during the summer.
The midfielder has not played since the end of January after suffering both knee and calf injuries.
Defour is now close to a return after missing the start of the current campaign but the club have now revealed that he will be staying until 2020.
Burnley exercised the option in his deal and manager Sean Dyche admits the Belgian is making good progress with his injuries.
Dyche told the club’s official website: ‘He was injured at the time and we leave players alone when they’re injured, so we didn’t go out to the Press and say he’s here for another two years. But he is, and there’s no question in-house what we’re talking about.
“Steven is doing really well. He’s been training with us full-out for a week-10 days, which is great, and he’s looking well and feeling well.’
