Burnley have rather gone off the boil in what has nevertheless been a truly extraordinary season for Sean Dyche’s side.
After a five-match winning run in March and April raised the dizzying prospect of a top-six finish, Burnley have gone four without a win thanks to defeats to Chelsea and Arsenal and draws in games they would’ve expected to win against Stoke and Brighton.
Burnley though are still heading for the Europa League next season, though, and there should be a celebratory feel at Turf Moor at the weekend.
Crucially, Burnley’s stellar season has been built on success against those below them in the table. They haven’t lost at home to a team below them in the table since an opening-day defeat to West Brom, winning seven and drawing four such games since. Bournemouth, meanwhile, have lost 12 of their 15 games against teams above them and are without an away win since a stunning 3-0 victory at Chelsea back in January.
Burnley are 23/20 with 888.com to sign off with a victory and that looks a touch generous. Five of Burnley’s seven home wins this season have come without conceding and they’re 11/4 to win this one to nil.
Ashley Barnes has scored Burnley’s last two goals and is 37/20 to score here – it’s 9/2 for him to get the opening goal of the afternoon.
