Walters blow for Clarets

Burnley forward Jonathan Walters is set to be sidelined until at least Christmas due a recurring knee problem.

The 34-year-old joined the Clarets from Stoke during the off-season but his gametime has been limited to just 27 minutes in the Premier League.

Walters has been struggling with a knee issue and he was forced to sit out the Republic of Ireland’s recent World Cup qualifiers against Moldova and Wales.

The former Ipswich man is currently taking part in a rehab programme and will definitely miss Ireland’s World Cup play-off matches next month.

Burnley are yet to confirm the news but reports claim he won’t be back in action until at least Christmas after going under the knife twice in the past 18 months.
