Hazard set for CL bench role

Antonio Conte has revealed how important Eden Hazard is to Chelsea and says he will start Tuesday's Champions League game on the bench.

Hazard has been struggling with an ankle problem and made his first appearance of the season as the Blues beat Leicester City 2-1 on Saturday.

The Londoners have coped without him, winning their last three Premier League matches to sit in third place in the standings.

However it is Europe’s elite club competition that is now on the horizon as the Stamford Bridge outfit return to the competition after missing out last term.

Conte’s men will begin by welcoming Azerbaijan Premier League winners Qarabag FK to the Bridge and the Italian tactician will have his talisman among the substitutes.

He would love the Belgium international to play but is refusing to push him too fast in his recovery.

“He is in the group, in the squad and is working well to find the best physical condition,” he said. “He needs a bit of time to continue to improve and we must not take a stupid risk with him. He will come on to the bench.

“He is an amazing player, we are looking forward to having him on our squad.”

Punters looking to use a free bet might fancy Chelsea to retain their Premier League title with a fit Hazard in the ranks and they are next in action against Arsenal on Sunday September 17.
