Loan move for Chelsea full-back

Chelsea defender Baba Rahman is close to full fitness and could head out on loan in January, with Everton among his reported suitors.

Rahman has spent nearly a year on the sidelines after sustaining an anterior cruciate ligament injury while playing for Ghana at the African Cup of Nations but is now closing in on a return.

The 23-year-old left-back, who joined Chelsea in a £14million deal from Germany’s Augsburg in 2015, is unlikely to be able to force his way into Antonio Conte’s plans for the latter half of the season and is expected to depart on loan.

Rahman spent time with Schalke in the Bundesliga last season and they are believed to be keen on another temporary deal, while Monaco, Fenerbahce and Fiorentina have also been linked but the defender could have options in the Premier League.

Everton have been credited with an interest and that could be a move that appeals to both the player and Chelsea, as it would allow Conte to see how Rahman performs in England.
