Lyon are reported to have joined the race to sign Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye when the transfer window opens again.

Everton managed to fight off interest from French champions Paris Saint-Germain during the January transfer window, but the Parisians are expected to try again in the summer.

According to reports in the French media they will be joined by Lyon in the race for the 29-year-old’s signature.

Lyon are in the market for a new midfielder as they expect to lose Tanguy Ndombele in the close season and Gueye is high on their wanted list as a possible replacement.

Gueye has played in France before with Lille and is said to be keen on making a return to Ligue 1, with PSG his preferred destination due to their ambitions of winning the Champions League.

Everton will be planning on making changes in the summer, but cashing in on Gueye is unlikely to be high on their to do list, and they could refuse to sell once again.
