Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon is reportedly on the radar of Gareth Southgate and could be called into the England squad this week.

The 18-year-old shot to prominence last season as he played a key role in helping the Cottagers to win promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs.

Reports suggested that he was being considered by Southgate for the 2018 World Cup but in the end the England boss felt it was too soon to bring him into the mix.

Southgate has earned a reputation for handing opportunities to youngsters with the likes of James Maddison, Mason Mount and Jadon Sancho called into the current squad for the upcoming Nations League games against Croatia and Spain.

The England boss is light on options at left-back following the withdrawals of Danny Rose and Luke Shaw through injury, leaving Ben Chilwell as the only recognised left-back available.

It’s understood that Southgate is mulling over the idea of inviting Sessegnon to join up with the senior side over the next few days.
