Terriers spirit and work rate key to survival – Ince

Huddersfield Town

Tom Ince feels the way that Huddersfield Town have pulled together all season means they deserved their last-gasp victory over Watford.

The Terriers went into the match hovering four points above the relegation zone but Ince’s injury-time winner means they are seven points clear of danger and all-but safe from the drop.

It was not a game for the purists, with plenty of endeavour and not much in the way of quality, but the Yorkshire fans will not care one bit as they saw their heroes record their ninth win this term.

Most pundits felt that Huddersfield were nailed on for relegation before a ball had been kicked but they have defied the odds to stand on the brink of earning another top-flight season.

And Ince believes that their position in the table is down to the hard graft and team spirit that has been the hallmark of the campaign.

‘I thought we huffed and puffed throughout the whole game and it was always going to be one goal to win it and fortunately it came our way and at the perfect time,’ he told the Huddersfield Examiner.

‘It’s been a team effort all season, and we deserve days like today, we work so hard for each other. We knew today was going to be a tough task, and this win gives us a lot of confidence now.

‘We have moved seven points clear of the bottom three, and we knew today and the Everton game in a few weeks were going to be massive.’
