Striker back to boost Foxes

Leicester City

Leicester striker Jamie Vardy will be fit to face Chelsea on Saturday lunchtime after recovering from a groin injury.

The England international was forced to miss the Foxes’ goalless draw in the FA Cup third-round against his former club Fleetwood Town at Highbury last Saturday because of the problem, but is back for the game at Stamford Bridge.

Wes Morgan and Danny Simpson are both absent because of respective hamstring issues and Robert Huth’s ankle injury keeps him on the sidelines, but Christian Fuchs and Vicente Iborra are fit for Claude Puel’s side after recovering from illness and hamstring injury respectively.

Puel told reporters: “He will be available for the game, there is no problem with Jamie. He can train well this week.

“I don’t know how long Wes will stay outside the squad but I hope to have some good news and hope I can speak about the end of the injury.

“Simpson can run a little which is good news and we will see when he can come back into the team.”

Provisional squad: Schmeichel, Hamer, Jakupovic, Maguire, Chilwell, Fuchs, Benalouane, Dragovic, James, King, Albrighton, Amartey, Gray, Silva, Ndidi, Mahrez, Iborra, Choudhury, Musa, Vardy, Slimani, Okazaki, Ulloa, Iheanacho.
