Reds boss Jurgen Klopp had to deal with a summer of uncertainty over his Brazilian playmaker after Barca made it clear they wanted him to replace Neymar, who left for PSG.
Liverpool rejected approaches worth upwards of £116m for the player who handed in a transfer request in order to get a switch to the Nou Camp, but it looks likely they will have to do it all again.
Barcelona chief executive, Oscar Grau has revealed the Catalan Giants have not yet given up hope of landing Coutinho and are set to make another move for the Brazilian when the transfer window opens in January.
“We are ready to buy Coutinho in the winter market, or any player the technical staff request,” Barcelona’s chief executive said. “But it is important to adjust ourselves, so if there are to be arrivals, there must be exits as well.”
Following all the disruption Coutinho has settled back in has scored in his last three appearances for Klopp’s men.
Brighton's hopes of signing Paddy McNair have been hit by the news Sunderland have reportedly accepted Middlesbrough's offer.
