Gundogan relishing Liverpool fight

Manchester City are said to be 'comfortable' with Ilkay Gundogan running down the rest of his contract, according to Etihad insiders.

Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan is relishing the rivalry his side have developed with Liverpool.

City successfully defended the Premier League title last term by finishing just one point clear of Liverpool and the duo seem set to battle it out again this year for the top domestic prize.

The Reds hold the advantage after three games with a maximum haul of nine points, while City have seven after two wins and a draw.

“I think we should always put ourselves under pressure because we are so talented and such a good team that we want to win every game, so the pressure comes from inside,” he told the Manchester Evening News.

“The fact that Liverpool does so well recently just shows that there is a team with a lot of quality that will also be a big contender for the season.

“That’s good for the league, maybe also good for us but also good for Liverpool that we are there so it’s going to be a fight. It’s not going to be easy so we have to be there, we have to win and that’s the game.”

City take on Brighton in the Premier League on Saturday and punters may wish to use their free bet to back the champions to secure all three points.
