Mancini has Ferguson attrributes – Kidd

Manchester City

Brian Kidd claims there are 'definitely comparisons' between Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini and Sir Alex Ferguson.

City’s assistant boss spoke out following Saturday’s 3-1 win at West Ham after Mancini made a quick exit from Upton Park to see his ill father in his hometown of Ancona in Italy.

Kidd feels the way Mancini operates and how he has been forced to deal with a myriad of internal problems such as training ground bust-ups, arguments and the Carlos Tevez transfer request saga has shown him in a good light which mirrors the way Ferguson operates at Old Trafford.

Kidd, who was the Manchester United chief’s assistant at the start of their return to success in the 1990s, said: “There are definitely comparisons between the boss and Sir Alex [Ferguson].

“He [Mancini] is a winner and has a great will to win. He was disappointed we lost a goal [against West Ham], because he is never satisfied, which is great to see. I have been there with Sir Alex.”
