Solskjaer – United targeting 15 more points
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes 15 more points will be enough to secure Manchester United a top-four finish in the Premier League.
The Red Devils are currently in a four-way battle with Chelsea, Tottenham and Arsenal for the two remaining Champions League qualification positions and head into this weekend’s action sitting sixth in the standings – three points off the top four.
With just six domestic matches remaining in their season, Solskjaer knows time is running out if they are to guarantee their place in Europe’s premier club competition via their league standing, but he believes 15 points from their remaining games, including a win against third-placed Chelsea later this month, will be enough.
‘We need as many points as possible and I think if we get 15, we’ll be top three, because in those games hopefully we’ll beat Chelsea,’ Solskjaer told reporters.
A top-three finish is Solskjaer’s ultimate aim for the season although he does not want to look any further ahead than Saturday’s home clash with West Ham.
‘Now it’s about West Ham and focusing on a good performance to give us three points,’ Solskjaer added.
‘We want top three.
Top four is also an aim if we don’t get them 15, but we should aim for 15 points.
‘ United have failed to win their last two meetings with the Hammers, including a 3-1 loss earlier this season, but both of those clashes came at the London Stadium and punters may choose to use their free bet to back Solskjaer’s side to get the three points they desire this time around.
