Would Jadon Sancho be wise to turn down Manchester United?

Manchester United

Borussia Dortmund have said Jadon Sancho is not interested in a move to Manchester United and a case can easily be made for him staying where he is for now.

The 19-year-old was a revelation for BVB during his first season in the Bundesliga after joining for a bargain fee from Manchester City, and he has continued that form into the 2019-20 campaign.

It would suggest the young forward is no one-season wonder and interest in him will only get stronger as he continues to shine on the big stage.

He has already scored two goals for Dortmund this season, to add to the 12 he bagged last term, while he showed what he is capable of on the international stage when scoring another two in England’s 5-3 win over Kosovo on Tuesday night.

It would appear that Manchester United pulled out all the stops to try and land the teenager in the summer but Dortmund were not interested in cashing in on their prized asset.

BVB officials have also said that Sancho would not have been interested in the move if he was offered the chance – and at the moment, who could blame him?

Harry Maguire may have jumped at the chance to make the switch to Old Trafford, but it may not suit everyone.

Sancho has plenty of time on his side and would be best off continuing his development at Dortmund, where he is clearly enjoying life off the field, his football on it, and is idolised by the Schwarzgelben faithful.

He is in a team pushing Bayern for the Bundesliga title and one playing Champions League football. The standard and quality of action could not be much higher and he is sure to improve even further.

Sancho is also away from the spotlight of the Premier League and the pressure that can bring. As things stand, Dortmund is the place for him to thrive.

If he carries on the way he is, he will get his move to a club like Manchester United one day. It may not be long before Manchester City, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain etc are forming an orderly queue.

As for United, they are still not the proposition they once were and it remains to be seen if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is the man to turn things around. You get the feeling another change is coming and again Sancho may have dodged a bullet in not heading to Old Trafford.

For now Sancho is at the perfect club.
