United fire sale in January unlikely

Manchester United

Jose Mourinho is reportedly not looking to offload a host of fringe players in January with just Bastian Schweinsteiger up for grabs.

The Portuguese tactician still appears to be figuring out his best team at Old Trafford but that has not stopped him giving several players the cold shoulder since he arrived.

Memphis Depay, Morgan Schneiderlin, Matteo Darmian, Marcos Rojo and Ashley Young have all had limited opportunities under the former Chelsea and Real Madrid boss, leading to speculation some of them may be allowed to leave.

The likes of Depay, Schneiderlin and Darmian have all attracted interest from elsewhere due to to their lack of game time but any potential suitors could be left disappointed.

According to reports, Mourinho does not want to make sweeping changes to his 27-strong first-team squad in January, with United only actively looking to move on Schweinsteiger.

While Mourinho will not stand in the way if someone is desperate to leave, he is eager to wait until the summer before putting more members of his current squad on the market.
