Toon ready to make striker move
Newcastle are closing in on West Brom striker Salomon Rondon and are ready to activate the release clause in his contract.
The Baggies are facing up to the prospect of losing Rondon following relegation to the Championship and Newcastle are the latest club to be linked with a swoop.
Rondon impressed for Albion despite relegation, firing home 10 goals in a struggling side, and it is claimed that Newcastle will pay the £16.5million it would take to activate a release clause in his contract.
The Magpies are ready to sell Aleksandar Mitrovic for a fee in the region of £20million, with Fulham favourites to do a deal, and will use the money to fund a swoop for Rondon.
The Albion striker is desperate to stay in the Premier League and the chance to play for a club the size of Newcastle would be difficult to turn down.
There is plenty of interest in Rondon and reports now claim Newcastle will make a move sooner rather than later in an attempt to fight off their rivals and seal a deal.
