Benitez willing to consider loan moves

Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez has admitted he could use the loan market as the possible takeover of the club continues to drag on.

The Magpies are currently at the centre of a takeover battle but the club’s fans were hoping for it to be resolved before the January transfer window.

Benitez was left frustrated in the summer after missing out on several key targets but he is hoping to make some shrewd moves in the next few weeks.

The Spaniard is on the lookout for more experience, after seeing his side lose five of their last six games.

Although he is in the dark when it comes to the takeover, Benitez admits he will need to consider loaning players from some of Europe’s bigger clubs.

When asked about loan moves, he told the Chronicle: “Yeah, we have to analyse every possibility because at the moment we don’t know what is going on.

“We have to consider every option and see it’s for us or not. The priority is to stay in the Premier League – not find the next best player for the next 10 years. We must make sure we have what we need to compete.

“We need to have the experience, physicality and quality to improve the team.”
