Norwich v Arsenal Team News

Norwich City
Todd Cantwell has withdrawn from the England Under-21 squad for their upcoming matches amid concerns about his ongoing hamstring problem.

Arsenal will begin life without Unai Emery when they travel to Carrow Road to take on Norwich in the Premier League on Sunday.

The Gunners parted ways with Emery on Friday following a seven-match winless run across all competitions, with ‘Invincible’ Freddie Ljungberg being placed in temporary charge.

On paper, Ljungberg has been handed a favourable first match in charge against the relegation-threatened Canaries, but Daniel Farke’s side did get a much-needed 2-0 victory at Everton last time out and they have already beaten Manchester City on home soil this season.

Norwich will also be boosted by the availability of attacking midfielder Todd Cantwell, who has recovered from the knock he picked up at Goodison Park, while they will make a late call on full-back Jamal ewis, who returned to training this week following a knee problem.

However, Sunday’s match will come too soon for defenders Grant Hanley and Timm Klose, who are working their way back from long-term injuries.

Ljungberg may opt to make changes for his first Arsenal starting XI, with defenders Shkodran Mustafi and David Luiz to be assessed following the respective foot and rib injuries they picked up during the Europa League defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday.

Hector Bellerin also remains a doubt with a hamstring problem, although Sead Kolasinac does come back into contention following a similar problem.

Arsenal do have an impressive recent record against Norwich, as they have only lost one of the last 18 meetings between the two sides, although that defeat did come at Carrow Road when Grant Holt grabbed the only goal of the game in October 2012.

However, Arsenal have won four of the five meetings since then and another triumph on Sunday could see them move back up to fifth in the top-flight standings.
