Hasenhuttl confirms continued Redmond absence
Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl has confirmed Nathan Redmond will once again be missing for Saturday's clash with Sheffield United.
England international Redmond has established himself as an influential figure over recent seasons at St Mary’s Stadium. He was directly involved in 10 top-flight goals for Southampton last term and has already netted during the current campaign.
However, the 25-year-old sustained an ankle injury during the latter stages of last month’s Carabao Cup victory over Fulham and missed the subsequent Premier League draw with Manchester United as a result.
It had been hoped the former Birmingham youngster would be able to return to action at Bramall Lane this weekend, but Hasenhuttl has now revealed he will not be risked.
However, the Austrian has softened the blow by confirming none of his players away on international duty have returned with any injury issues.

“Everybody is back from their international games without injuries, so that’s good news,” Hasenhuttl said. “The bad news is that Nathan [Redmond] is still not available, but he is making progress.”
Hasenhuttl also revealed Moussa Djenepo is making good progress following a muscle injury, although he is unlikely to be risked on Saturday, while Michael Obafemi and Ryan Bertrand could return against the Blades.
“With Moussa [Djenepo] it looks better; we aren’t sure whether it is enough to play this weekend,” Hasenhuttl added. “We’ll have to look. He can bring us something special, he showed it in the few minutes he’s played so far that he can make a difference.
“The chances are not that big, but let’s see. I don’t want to take too much risk because it’s a very busy September.
“Michael [Obafemi] is in training sessions as well as Ryan [Bertrand], they are both options. It has been good to regroup over the break, we’re looking forward.”
Southampton will be looking to make it three away wins in a row when they head to South Yorkshire following their victories on the road at Brighton and Fulham over recent weeks, but they have not won at Bramall Lane since Grzegorz Rasiak and Jhon Viafara goals helped them to a 2-1 victory nearly 12 years ago.
