Butland eyes injury-free run

Stoke City

Stoke City keeper Jack Butland has admitted injuries are a part of the game but he is hoping to put his woes behind him.

The Potters keeper suffered a broken finger while on international duty with England and was forced to miss out on the encounter with Brazil at Wembley last month.

However, Butland was back in action for the Potters against Swansea City last weekend and now the former Birmingham keeper is hoping he can get through the rest of the season without setbacks leading into the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

He told the club’s official website: “To miss out on playing for your country sucks, then that carried on into missing games for Stoke as well so it’s disappointing and not great timing.

“Hopefully I’ll have a little bit more luck now going into the rest of the season and hopefully get myself in the squad for the summer.

“Injuries are injuries and touch wood I’ve never had too many. I never feel like I’m miles away, I’m just doing what I can do and hopefully I’ll get the nod.”
