Potters stopper set for Blues return

Geoff Cameron is not definitely out of Saturday's trip to Newcastle but appears more likely to return to face Chelsea on September 23.

The 32-year-old American defender was substituted at half-time of last Saturday evening’s 2-2 draw against Manchester United at the bet365 Stadium having felt a slight twinge in his hamstring.

It was not thought to be too serious but boss Mark Hughes initially expected Cameron to be sidelined for around a fortnight.

However, it appears that Cameron has made good progress during the course of this week and at a push could play some part at St James’ Park if he was required to.

But, in an ideal world, Hughes will leave him on the sidelines to make sure there are no risks of a setback given that Kurt Zouma will miss the visit of Chelsea to the Potteries a week later as he is ineligible to face his parent club.

If Cameron does not play on Tyneside then Bruno Martins Indi will remain in the starting XI having stepped off the bench against the Red Devils.
