Potters youngsters set for loan moves

Stoke City

Stoke City intend to send a few academy players out on loan in the January transfer window to gain first-team experience.

Academy director Gareth Jennings has confirmed Stoke are looking for clubs to take some of the Under-23 squad on temporary deals in the New Year.

Writing in his programme notes this week, he said: “With the reopening of the transfer window in just a few weeks’ time hopefully this will provide an opportunity for two or three of our players to go out on loan. We feel that playing senior football is an important part of their development.

“We have been a little bit unfortunate of late with injuries to players who would have gone out but fingers crossed the opportunity will arise for others to make a temporary switch in January.

“Moving players out on loan will not only benefit those individuals concerned but provide the chance for other players in the group to gain more experience at under-23s level.”
