Alderweireld admits Spurs need to improve
Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld says they need to work on the fine details to improve on a steady start to the season.
Spurs boast five points from their opening four games, which isn’t too bad considering they have already travelled to Manchester City and Arsenal, but Alderweireld is demanding more.

They kicked off the campaign with a 3-1 win over Aston Villa before taking a point away from the Etihad courtesy of a 2-2 draw with the Premier League champions.
Even the draw at the Emirates Stadium will be tinged with frustration as they allowed a two-goal lead to slip and it could be suggested they were lucky not to concede a third in the latter stages.
The international break will allow time for the dust to settle and Spurs will be hoping to bounce back to winning ways when they host Crystal Palace on September 14.
Alderweireld admits it hasn’t been the perfect start but feels they are capable of improving if they make a few minor adjustments to their game.
“We had one very bad result against Newcastle but two very difficult away games as well – we got two points out of them, it’s not a lot but okay, we didn’t lose and now we have to improve our game, starting winning and getting points,” Alderweireld told Tottenham’s official website.
“You have to be positive. It’s all in the details. If we were a little bit more clever in the last minute of the first half against Arsenal, I think we go into half-time 2-0 up and we don’t concede two goals. You have to take the positives and go again in a couple of weeks.”
