Mazraoui made for Spurs, but others in for Ajax full-back

Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham and Leicester City have been linked to Ajax full-back Noussair Mazraoui with reports also claiming Valencia and Roma are interested.

Spurs fans will be familiar with Mazraoui, who made the first-team breakthrough at Ajax last season as they won the Eredivisie title and were knocked out by Mauricio Pochettino’s side at the semi-final stage of the Champions League.

The 21-year-old would be a good addition for Tottenham, who need strengthening at both left and right-back positions and were linked to Norwich’s Max Aarons last week.

Mazraoui, who can play in both positions,.featured in 48 matches for the Dutch giants last term.

That included 16 starts in the elite European competition, where he netted four goals and provided five assists.

However, this season he has been more of a fringe player for coach Erik ten Hag, starting just six games across all competitions although he has suffered a thigh muscle strain in this time.

AS Roma Live report the interest of Tottenham and Leicester, alongside Los Che and Italian club Roma, but not how much the full-back, who has won six caps for the Morocco national side, is likely to cost.

Mazraoui did sign a new contract at Ajax earlier this year, back in March.

Ajax director of football Marc Overmars said at the time that Mazraoui had an opportunity to move abroad, but was glad that he stayed.

He told the Ajax club website: “Noussair is only 21 and can play in several positions. We’ve had good discussions about his future with his agent Mustapha Nakhli. Naturally he could go abroad, but it’s great that they both feel that a longer stay at Ajax would be best for ‘Nous’”.

Ajax have him under contract until 2022, and it would take a sizeable offer for Tottenham to tempt the Amsterdam club to cash in.
