Brandt interest hots up

Tottenham Hotspur

Spurs could lose out on long-term target Julian Brandt with Liverpool expected to launch a summer bid for the Bayer Leverkusen winger.

Tottenham are among a handful of Premier League clubs who have monitored the 20-year-old in recent years and they have been linked with an offer for the forward, who is rated in the £20million bracket.

However, widespread reports on Wednesday suggest Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is leading the chase for Brandt and plans to make him a top target in the summer transfer window.

Along with Liverpool and Spurs, Chelsea, Everton, Manchester City and Manchester United have all sent scouts to watch him in action this season, and Brandt has impressed in the Bundesliga, scoring twice and claiming six assists.

Bayern Munich are also interested in Brandt and could see off competition from the English clubs if the player opts to prolong his stay in Germany while he has also admitted he could yet be open to signing a new deal with Leverkusen.
