The central defender feared he would not be a figure of hate at White Hart Lane having played previously for their bitter North London rivals, but the Frenchman has been quietly surprised by the reaction to him by supporters and players.
Gallas, who left the Emirates to join Spurs on a free transfer in the summer, has now represented three clubs in the capital, having initially started his love affair with English football with Chelsea.
The 33-year-old said: “I wasn’t sure how I would be accepted but now I want to say ‘thank you’ to everyone because, from day one, I have been made to feel very welcome.
“When I played at White Hart Lane for Chelsea and Arsenal, it had probably the best atmosphere of any away ground I went to.
“The fans were always crazy before kick-off and I love that passion for their own team.”
