Silva – Carrillo will be given time

Watford boss Marco Silva has confirmed he will wait until Friday before deciding if Andre Carrillo is fit enough to face Arsenal.

The 26-year-old winger has featured five times in the Premier League since joining the Hornets from Benfica on a season-long loan during the summer, but he is a major doubt for Saturday’s home clash with the Gunners following his exploits on international duty with Peru.

The former Sporting Lisbon player helped his country secure a play-off place for next summer’s World Cup in Russia, but he did not return to England until Thursday afternoon and Silva has now confirmed he will be assessed at training on Friday before a decision is made regarding his availability for the weekend.

Silva said: “Tomorrow we will do the first session after he’s back this afternoon. We need to see his condition and after that we will make a decision.”

Watford have made an impressive start to the new league campaign, as they are currently eighth in the standings, level on points with both Liverpool and Burnley, while they also won their last meeting with Arsenal, securing a 2-1 success at the Emirates Stadium in January.
