Watford in need of pick me up

Heurelho Gomes says the Watford players need to pick themselves quickly if they are to end their current poor run of form.

The Hornets slipped to their seventh defeat in 10 Premier League matches at Stoke on Tuesday night as goals from Ryan Shawcross and Peter Crouch deepened the gloom for the Vicarage Road outfit.

Head coach Walter Mazzarri’s quest to end Watford’s current plight has not been helped by an injury crisis and Gomes has called on the players to pull together in the club’s time of need.

Gomes told the Watford Observer: “We are sad because I believe we are not in a good run. We must pick ourselves up and go again.

“We keep pushing ourselves and must be positive. We can’t stay with our heads down for too long.

“We need to continue to give our best on the pitch. We have a very talented squad but we don’t have everyone available.

“Confidence isn’t an issue. The supporters keep pushing us and supporting us. We all need to stick together.”
