Gera in gear for Albion outing

West Brom will hope Zoltan Gera can edge closer to a first-team return when he lines up for the reserves against Arsenal on Tuesday.

The 31-year-old Hungarian international midfielder joined the Baggies for a second spell in the summer on a Bosman free transfer from Fulham. However, his second debut has been put on hold due to the ankle surgery he underwent during the summer, while a setback last month also delayed Gera’s comeback mission.

But boss Roy Hodgson stated last week that Gera, who visited a specialist in Amsterdam on Wednesday, is now fit enough to get some minutes on the pitch and he will start with an outing against the Gunners at the Hawthorns.

Graham Dorrans, Marc-Antoine Fortune, Joe Mattock and Roman Bednar will also feature as they bid to force their way into Hodgson’s first-team plans.
