Pardew ready to find Field’s natural position

West Brom coach Alan Pardew admits he will work with Sam Field this week as he tries to find a position for him in the starting XI.

The academy graduate kept his place in the starting line-up last weekend as he helped the Baggies to a 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace.

Interim boss Gary Megson had used Field during his time in charge last month and Pardew admits the youngster has impressed him so far.

Field played on the left of midfield in the second half against Palace and Pardew admits he will start to work with Field to try and find a natural position.

He told the Express and Star: “He has ticked some boxes in those three games. One is his quality, two is his endeavour and work rate.

“It’s just what position is best suited to him. At times on Saturday he had his back to goal and it didn’t look comfortable for him.

“He looks like he needs to come from deep and that’s why we changed his position. All those things we need to find out.”
