Hammers retain Carvalho hope

West Ham United

West Ham plan to reignite their interest in William Carvalho in January but will need to repair relations with Sporting Lisbon.

The Hammers tried to land the midfield enforcer during the summer but the deal collapsed, resulting in a well-documented fall-out between the two clubs.

It seemed as if any chance West Ham had of landing Carvalho were over but reports indicate the east Londoners haven’t given up hope of snaring the 25-year-old Portugal international.

Carvalho himself is also believed to be keen on a move to West Ham but it remains to be seen as to whether Sporting will be willing to do business, having threatened to report the Premier League side to governing body FIFA over an alleged illegal approach.
