Aduriz vows to keep fighting for Bilbao
Athletic Bilbao veteran Aritz Aduriz says he will continue to give his all for the club until he ends his career,
The 38-year-old made an impressive appearance from the bench on Friday as Bilbao kicked off their season with a 1-0 win over defending champions Barcelona.
Aduriz scored a bicycle kick just a minute after his introduction to seal the points with 89 minutes on the clock at the San Mames.
He has been a fantastic servant to the Basque club throughout his career, scoring 172 goals in 391 appearances across three stints, and insists he is happy to keep giving.
Aduriz said: “The team has been amazing.
“There is no better way to start than by adding three points against Barca.
“I said I was going to be there to help Athletic until the last day and today I have been able to prove it.
“The atmosphere of San Mames is always insurmountable, but it is true that today people have taken this game even more eagerly.
“Athletic’s base is young people. You have to give them confidence and go slowly with them. They will help us a lot throughout the year.”
