Partey reaffirms commitment to Atletico
Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey says he is totally committed to the club despite exit speculation.
The Ghanaian midfielder has been linked with a number of moves away over the past 12 months, with Manchester City, Manchester United, and Arsenal all credited with an interest.
However, nothing materialised and the 26-year-old has stayed put, becoming a regular fixture in Diego Simeone’s team.
Having been more of a bit part player in previous campaigns, last season he featured 32 times in the league, scoring three goals.
Partey played 76 minutes of their 2-2 draw with Juventus in the opening group match of the Champions League, in which Los Rojiblancos came from two goals down to equalise.
Now, the Ghana international says he wants to stay at the club after everything they have given him throughout his career.
“I always think about the present,” Partey told Mundo Deportivo.
“Now I am here and I only think about giving it all every year. In the future, you never know what will happen.
“I think of Atleti and giving everything. I arrived as a child, this club welcomed me. Now I am a player and also a fan. All I have achieved is thanks to this club and I am very grateful.”
Atletico are next in action in La Liga on Saturday as they host Celta Vigo at the Wanda Metropolitano with Simeone’s men currently second in La Liga.
