Eden Hazard believes he has the platform to try and become 'the best player in the world' after signing a five-year deal with Real Madrid.

Eden Hazard says he is in “seventh heaven” at Real Madrid and is loving the fact he gets to work with manager Zinedine Zidane.

Belgium international Hazard ended his seven-year stay at Stamford Bridge this summer when signing for Madrid from Chelsea in a deal that could end up costing Los Blancos close to 130million euros.

The 28-year-old, who has been handed the iconic number seven shirt that was once worn by Cristiano Ronaldo, scored his first goal for the Spanish giants in the 1-0 friendly win against Salzburg on Wednesday.

Madrid are gearing up for the start of the new season, with Sunday’s clash against Roma the final tune-up match before the La Liga action gets under way at Celta Vigo seven days later.

Hazard is enjoying life at the Santiago Bernabeu and working under Zidane, who is one of his footballing idols.

He told Corriere della Sera: “At Chelsea I spent unforgettable years, but here I am in seventh heaven. One of my idols, as a child, was Zinedine Zidane. I had his poster in the room and now I have the opportunity to be trained by him.”
