Dutch ace coy on Real move
Donny van de Beek admits he is flattered by links to Real Madrid, but says he is happy with Ajax and could now stay with the Dutch club.
Real are known to be pursuing a move for the 22-year-old as they seek an alternative to Paul Pogba, who looks set to stay with Manchester United this summer, but they could miss out again.
Van de Beek was involved on Tuesday as Ajax claimed a 3-2 win over PAOK to secure a 5-4 aggregate triumph in the third round of Champions League qualifying, and was quizzed about his future after the game.
Real is an obvious attraction for him, but he also seems happy with Ajax and could stay where he is.
“They’re a fantastic club, but Ajax are too,” he said. “I’ve nothing to complain about in that regard. There’s a very good chance I’ll continue playing here, but nothing is certain yet.”
When pressed on whether it would be better for the club to clarify his future sooner rather than later, he added: “I hope so, too, because I’m a bit fed up with all the questions about it.”
