Zidane labels Bale ‘important’ for Real

Real Madrid
Two Chinese clubs have reportedly offered Gareth Bale a £1million-a-week contract in a bid to sign the Welshman from Real Madrid.

Zinedine Zidane says Gareth Bale wants to stay at Real Madrid as the European transfer deadline looms.

Bale seemed set to depart for China earlier in the summer but the move collapsed, and it has also been suggested Los Blancos could use him as a makeweight to snare Neymar from Paris Saint-Germain.

However, the 30-year-old has been brought back into the fold in Madrid and has started both of their La Liga games this season – and Zidane now says he views Bale as a key man.

“What has changed is that the player wants to stay, nothing more,” said Zidane.

“What is interesting for us, in the first place, is that the player wants to stay at the club, that is the most important thing.

“Now, there have been a lot of things said about this situation and I have talked about it too, but the most important thing is that the player wants to stay and we are counting on him.

“He is a really important player for us and he has demonstrated that and right now he has to keep doing what he has done.”

The European transfer window closes on September 2 and there is still a chance Bale could move on, but it seems as if he is set to remain at Real for now.
