Valencia seal deal for Belgian forward
Valencia have sealed the loan signing of Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi for the season.
The 24-year-old joined the Stamford Bridge club in the summer of 2016 but always struggled for first-team opportunities at Stamford Bridge and despite scoring some important goals, such as the one away to West Brom which sealed the Premier League title, could never force his way into the starting XI.
He spent the second half of last season on loan at Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund where he enjoyed a very positive loan spell, scoring seven goals in 10 league appearances, but his spell was cut short in April after suffering an ankle ligament injury.
Now, the La Liga side have opted to take him from London on a season-long loan deal, after he figured for Belgium at this summer’s World Cup in Russia.
New Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri had admitted his squad was far too big and would be prepared to allow players to leave.
Batshuayi’s departure leaves Chelsea with three recognised senior centre forwards in Alvaro Morata, Olivier Giroud and Tammy Abraham.
