McDermott upbeat over Royals prospects

Brian McDermott insists Reading can "flourish" in the Premier League despite the fact the Royals are yet to win this season.

McDermott's side have yet to pick up a victory in their return to the top flight but have managed back-to-back 2-2 draws with Newcastle and Swansea to offer them hope.

Wins in the Capital One Cup against Peterborough and Queens Park Rangers have been notable positive results but concern over their league form has led some fans to wonder if the Royals have what it takes to stay up this season.

McDermott, however, believes they can do it and expects results to come soon.

He said: "This is an unforgiving league and it has some really, really good players. I am loving every single minute of it and so are the players.

"We are part of this league and we are going to flourish in it."

Reading face Liverpool at Anfield, who are without a home win themselves so far this season, when the domestic action returns next weekend following the international break.
