Manfredi return will give me selection headaches - Wane

Wigan Warriors boss Shaun Wane admits Dom Manfredi's return will give him plenty of positive selection headaches.

The Leigh-born winger has been missing for the majority of the year after he suffered a knee injury in August 2016 against Castleford Tigers.

Manfredi, who was named in the 2016 Super League Dream Team, has had to endure some tough months on the sidelines but is ready to return this week.

He will play for the club's reserves when they take on St Helens this weekend and Wane will soon have selection headaches.

Joe Burgess, Tom Davies and Liam Marshall have all played on the wing for Wigan this season and the boss is excited for the extra competition.

He told the club's official website: "I’m very pleased to have him back.

"He's been in a tough place but he's over it now. He's an outstanding player. If he kills it on Saturday and I see some good signs then he's up for selection the week after.

"To have him back, and get some pressure on team-selection is great for us."
