Saints boss ready for Salford test

St Helens coach Justin Holbrook is already looking forward to a showdown with Salford Red Devils, having breezed past Huddersfield.

The Saints made light work of the Giants on Friday night, with a 40-16 victory at the Totally Wicked Stadium, to keep their play-off hopes alive this season.

Next up is a trip to Salford, with the Red Devils already out of the picture for the play-offs following their 44-2 defeat at the hands of Leeds Rhinos on Friday.

Holbrook was pleased with the win over Huddersfield and is now looking forward to the encounter with the Red Devils on Thursday.

He told the BBC: "Our first 60 minutes was really, really good. It was pleasing to see. We played some really good rugby league out there.

"We have a really big game now against Salford. We have said all along that we need to be consistent every week and the points we have scored could come into it.

"The Super 8s have had a few too many dead rubbers (in previous seasons) and this has been an exception. Every game is vital and it's been a very good format this year - you wouldn't want to change it."
