Aberdeen midfielder one of three Gers targets

Rangers are plotting a January pre-contract offer for Aberdeen midfielder Kenny McLean, who is yet to sign a new deal with the Dons.

McLean is reportedly one of three players on the Light Blues’ radar with the Scottish Sun claiming manager Pedro Caixinha is also keen on Motherwell’s Louis Moult and Hearts attacker Jamie Walker.

Rangers attempted to land Hearts’ top talent in the summer but the Tynecastle club resisted – claiming that Rangers were trying to offload some of their ‘deadwood’ in part-exchange.

Caixinha still wants the 24-year-old winger and could return with a better offer in the January window.

Moult, 25, was linked with both Aberdeen and Rangers in the summer – but remained at Fir Park.

The former Stoke City striker has scored in his last three appearances for Well and has tallied five in total so far this season.

McLean is out of contract next summer and appears to be the sort of technical player that would be ideal for Caixinha’s system.
