Beerman sets sights on Celtic

Rangers youngster Myles Beerman hopes he has done enough to secure a starting spot against Celtic next Sunday.

The Ibrox side face off with their Old Firm rivals at Hampden Park in the Scottish Cup semi-finals next weekend.

Beerman, 18, has forced his way into the Rangers team since Pedro Caixinha took charge and the defender is now hoping to take part in his first Glasgow derby.

“I would love to be involved in such a massive game,” he told the Evening Times. “I was at Hampden to watch the last Old Firm game. It was incredible and the fans were impressive.”

Celtic are unbeaten domestically this season but Beerman insists Rangers can dump their Old Firm rivals out of the Cup when the two meet at Hampden on Sunday.

He added: “All we can do is prepare as best we can. It’s one of the biggest games of the season.

“I have watched them quite a lot this season. They are good players but they are human beings. I have got to analyse them and then try to perform my best.

“Part of football is the motivation to do well against good players. That is what I love and that is what keeps me going.

“It’s an Old Firm game and I know for a fact we will be up for it.”
