Roma enter race for Celtic hitman
Roma are the latest club to express an interest in doing a deal with Celtic for striker Odsonne Edouard in January.
The 21-year-old came through Paris Saint-Germain’s academy but failed to make a senior appearance before heading out on-loan to Celtic in 2017-18.
He played a key role in helping the Bhoys to win the domestic treble, scoring 11 times in 29 appearances across all competitions, and they signed him permanently at the end of the season.
It’s understood they handed over around £9million to get the done deal and that appears to be money well spent.
Edouard scored 23 in 52 last season and already boasts six in 11 games in 2019-20.
The Frenchman’s exploits in front of goal have led to widespread interest from across Europe over the past few months.
Lazio, Napoli and Borussia Dortmund have previously been linked with Edouard and they will now seemingly face competition from Roma.
The Giallorossi were scouring the transfer market for a new hitman over the summer, however, they failed to land Mauro Icardi and instead handed over a new contract to Edin Dzeko.
Reports in Italy claim Roma will are lining up a January bid to try and prize Edouard away from Parkhead.
Celtic are unlikely to let their man depart without a fight as they look to try and mount a more serious challenge in Europe, while Edouard recently claimed he was “happy” with the Scottish giants.
But if Roma, or any of the other interested clubs, come in with a big-money offer it will be tough for them to ignore.
