Injury blow for Roma
Italian Serie A outfit AS Roma have suffered a blow on the injury front as midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan is set to miss the next three weeks.
The Armenia international is on loan at the club from Premier League side Arsenal but looks set to miss out for a while after picking up problem in Roma’s league fixture against Lecce on Sunday.
Following scans on the injury on Monday the Italians have have confirmed the 30-year-old has suffered an abductor tendon injury in his right leg and could be out a month, although they will be hoping it is not as long as that.
The news will be a disastrous one for head coach Paulo Fonsecawho as he is also missing the likes of midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini, winger Diego Perotti, on-loan right-back Davide Zappacosta and young Cengiz Ünder due to injuries as well.
Roma are in Europa League action on Thursday when they travel to Austria to face Wolfsberger in Group J.
Mkhitaryan was just beginning to find his feet in Italy following his summer loan switch and he has scored one goal in four league appearances.
His injury is also a blow for the Armenian national side as he will miss their upcoming Euro 2020 qualifying games away at Lichtenstein and Finland.
