Lovren set to join Italian giants

AS Roma
Liverpool are reportedly not planning to sell Dejan Lovren this summer despite continued speculation linking him with AC Milan.

According to reports in the Italian media, Liverpool centre-back Dejan Lovren is on the verge of joining Liverpool this week.

The 30-year-old helped the Reds reach the Champions League final last season, but he was left on the bench as Jurgen Klopp’s men beat Tottenham in Madrid.

After a busy summer, Klopp has now moved Lovren to his fourth-choice centre-back with Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip all ahead of him in the pecking order.

Liverpool are now willing to listen to bids from around Europe, with the European window set to shut on September 2.

The Croatia international is now the subject of a £15million bid from Roma, while AC Milan have also shown an interest.

Lovren is willing to take reduce his weekly wage to complete a move, with the two clubs now just haggling over a fee.

Roma boss Paulo Fonseca believes he will provide the experience he lacks at present in the capital, while Liverpool will have to battle on until January.

Brazilian Fabinbo looks set to be considered as a possible fourth-choice defender, while James Milner continues to provide cover for Andy Robertson.
