Roma closing in on Kalinic deal

AS Roma
Atletico Madrid striker Nikola Kalinic has suffered an injury to his ankle during training on Friday morning.

Roma are on the verge of securing a deal to sign Atletico Madrid forward Nikola Kalinic on loan with a view to a permanent €10million switch.

The 31-year-old Croatia international only moved to the Spanish capital last summer but struggled in La Liga with two goals in 17 appearances.

And, after Roma allowed Patrik Schick to join German Bundesliga side RB Leipzig on loan for €2.5m with an option to buy, they have now swooped for Kalinic.

The former Hadjuk Split, Blackburn and Dnipro striker, spent three years in Italy with Fiorentina and a season-long loan at Milan before leaving for Atletico.

Roma will hope Kalinic can rediscover the form which saw him score 33 goals in 84 appearances with Fiorentina now he is returning to Serie A.
