La Viola still in striker hunt
Fiorentina are still in the hunt to sign former Italy international Mario Balotelli on a free transfer, reports have claimed.
The controversial striker is without a club and available on a free transfer after leaving French side Marseille at the end of the season, and La Viola could offer him a return to Serie A.
The 28-year-old showed he still has an eye for goal after firing home eight goals in 15 appearances for Marseille in the second half of last season in Ligue 1, so it is no surprise Fiorentina are keen.
Brazilian side Flamengo are also said to be in the hunt and so it could come down to whether the striker is keen on another fresh challenge or whether he would prefer to return home.
Some reports have claimed the striker’s wages could be an issue as he is demanding big money, but for now at least Fiorentina remain in the hunt.
Due to the fact he is out of contract, there is no rush to get it done before the September 2 deadline.
