Castrovilli set to pen new Viola contract
Fiorentina have been handed a boost with the news Gaetano Castrovilli is set to sign a new contract to stay put until June 2024.
The 22-year-old midfielder has enjoyed an impressive first Serie A season to date on the back of a two-year loan spell at Cremonese.
Castrovilli has scored one goal and provided an assist in his seven appearances for La Viola this term and has already become a key part of Vincenzo Montella’s plans.
The Italy Under-21 international started his career in Cagliari’s youth ranks and then moved to Bari, where he made 11 league appearances.

He joined Fiorentina in 2017 on a deal until summer 2021 and has been gaining experience with Cremonese.
Castrovilli scored five goals in 52 Serie B games with I Grigiorossi and has now been given an opportunity to shine in the top flight.
It’s being reported that his new deal will also see him earn €800,000-per-year net plus performance-related bonuses.
Fiorentina have called a press conference for Thursday morning in which director Daniele Prade is set to officially announce the news.
La Viola is currently eighth in Serie A after seven matches, but they have won their last three consecutive matches and are only two points behind fourth-place Napoli.
