The 32-year-old striker joined the club from Bellaria in January 2010 and became a mainstay in the side from the start of the 2011-12 season following a six-month loan stint with Gubbio.
Gomez has made 178 appearances in Serie A or B, scoring 37 goals and providing 19 assists during his time at Verona, which included two promotion campaigns.
However, the club have released a statement on the website to confirm that he is departing with immediate effect.
It read: "Seasons made up of joy and disappointment, victories and defeats, during which (along with your teammates) you always wore this jersey with pride.
"And with the same pride you took part of our history, seeing as from 2010-11 no player has stepped on to the pitch more times than you with this shirt.
"The colours welcomed you, embraced you and you contributed to making them even more luminous. All of Hellas Verona wishes you the best for your future, both personally and professionally.
"You will always remain a Gialloblu."
